Job Description

Senior Interior Designer

A respected design-focused firm in Grand Rapids is seeking a Senior Interior Designer with strong design sensibility, exceptional attention to detail, and proven leadership experience. This is an opportunity to work in a collaborative, high-performing studio environment that values creativity, technical rigor, and human-centered design. The role includes leading interior design efforts across a wide variety of project types, including high-end residential, K–12 education, and healthcare environments.

This position is ideal for a driven, experienced designer who thrives in a fast-paced setting, enjoys leading interdisciplinary teams, and is passionate about creating purpose-driven spaces that blend thoughtful aesthetics with reliable, technically sound solutions.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Work alongside a supportive, mission-driven team known for long-term client partnerships and high-quality design work.
  • Engage in both commercial and residential interiors with the chance to shape project direction from concept through construction.
  • Join a culture grounded in integrity, collaboration, and design excellence—where your voice and leadership will directly influence outcomes.
  • Contribute to meaningful projects that prioritize people, learning environments, wellness, and elevated residential living.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead interior design projects through all phases, from concept development and schematic design to construction documentation and administration.
  • Develop and present design concepts, material palettes, detailing, and specifications, with a strong focus on millwork, lighting, finishes, and interior architecture.
  • Coordinate closely with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal teams to ensure alignment with project vision, schedules, and budgets.
  • Produce technical documentation in Revit, including detailed drawings, interior elevations, millwork packages, and finish schedules.
  • Create compelling visual presentations using SketchUp, Revit, and Adobe InDesign to communicate design intent clearly.
  • Manage client communication, consultant coordination, and project deliverables across multiple active projects.
  • Source and specify FF&E; develop furniture layouts, budgets, and bid documents.
  • Conduct site visits, document field conditions, and monitor implementation during construction to ensure design adherence.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional experience in interior design (commercial and/or residential).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design or closely related field.
  • NCIDQ certification strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit and SketchUp required; Adobe InDesign experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in high-end residential, K–12 education, or healthcare design.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and client interaction.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, mentorship, and contributing to a positive team culture.
